Big Ten play got started for Wisconsin on Tuesday night with a huge matchup against 13th ranked Maryland, and Wisconsin came out on top with a thrilling 64-59 victory.
The Badgers were able to jump out to a double digit lead in the first half before Maryland crawled back with an 11-0 run to make it a two point Badgers lead at the half. Wisconsin was able to stay ahead of the Terrapins in the second half as their shooting stayed hot and they held Maryland to low shooting on offense.
Wisconsin spread the ball around offensively, with Chucky Hepburn leading the way with 13 points, Steven Crowl with 12, Tyler Wahl with nine points, and Connor Essegian with 8.
The Badgers hit some clutch shots down the stretch as Maryland went cold in the second half, going on a 2-17 shooting stretch from the field to end the game.
Wisconsin was in control for mostly the entire game and closed out another close victory of five points or less. It's a statement win for unranked Wisconsin against the #13 team in the country in Maryland. Next up for the Badgers is a trip to Iowa to take on the Hawkeyes on Sunday.
