Badgers Volleyball Dominating Way Through Big Ten Schedule In Title Defense

The Wisconsin Badgers women's volleyball team is dominating once again as they defend their National Championship. Wisconsin currently is ranked 5th in the country and is 13-3 on the year, and 6-1 in Big Ten play.

The Badgers are currently on a six match winning streak and have won their last eight home matchups in Big Ten play, most recently taking down Michigan in four sets last Sunday.

Wisconsin redshirt sophomore Sarah Franklin was named Big Ten Player of the Week this past week, the first time she's won the award. Franklin averaged 5.14 kills, 2.43 digs and 0.43 blocks per set last weekend. She collected 20 kills and hit .567 in a sweep of Iowa while adding 16 kills and 11 digs against No. 24 Michigan.

The Badgers blocking has also taken a step up lately with junior Caroline Crawford averaging 2.0 blocks per set over her last three matches and is second on the team this season with 1.4 blocks per set, behind only Danielle Hart with 1.67 blocks per set. That blocking ability has made it impossible for the Badgers opponents to get their offense going. Opposing teams are hitting just .167 against Wisconsin, which is the 6th-best mark in the country.

Wisconsin has held their opponents to hitting under .100 on the season four times already this year.

The Badgers are ranked 5th in the country, their 47th consecutive week in the Top 10 of the AVCA Coaches Poll.

Wisconsin is back in action on Friday night in the UW Field House at 7 PM against Michigan State (10-9, 1-7 conference). They then head to Ann Arbor on Sunday to face off against Michigan once again, with the game starting at Noon.
