Mark Johnson talks about the 'Miracle On Ice' 40th Anniversary

One of, if not the most, famous events in sports history happened 40 years ago, on February 22, 1980.

The United States Olympic men's hockey team, comprised of college players, took on the juggernaut U.S.S.R., comprised of professional players. In one of the most stunning upsets in history, the Americans defeated the Soviets 4-3 to advance to play Finland for a gold medal in the game now dubbed the Miracle On Ice.

It's been celebrated at its various anniversaries over the years, and made into movies both in 1981 and 2014. The moment itself is a keystone part of the USA Hockey Hall of Fame.

One of the players on that team, current Wisconsin Badgers women's hockey coach Mark Johnson, talks to the voice of Wisconsin Badgers hockey, Brian Posick, about the 40th anniversary of the 'Miracle On Ice' game, and the upcoming celebration of the anniversary in Las Vegas. Johnson details the game itself, some of his fondest memories of the experience, some of the liberties taken by the 2014 movie, and what he's most looking forward to when the team gets back together in Las Vegas to celebrate the anniversary.

ABC and ESPN will televise specials celebrating the Miracle On Ice this weekend.
