Wisconsin football released its first depth chart of the regular season, and Jack Coan starts the season as the #1 QB ahead of Graham Mertz and Chase Wolf. Quintez Cephus is listed on the two-deep as a reserve wide receiver.
In addition to Coan starting at quarterback, the backfield will include Jonathan Taylor, which is no surprise, and John Chenal, a sophomore out of Grantsburg, as the starter at fullback.
The wide receiver positions will have A.J. Taylor and Kendric Pryor on the first team, with Cephus and Danny Davis listed as the reserves. At tight end, Madison Memorial product Jake Ferguson gets the nod.
On the offensive line, Cole Van Lanen and Logan Bruss are the the starting tackles, while preseason All-American lineman Tyler Biadasz is starting at center. The guard positions feature Jason Erdman and Josh Seltzner listed as "or" along with former Middleton standout Kayden Lyles.
On defense, the front line will go Isaiahh Loudermilk, Bryson Williams, and Garrett Rand. Zach Baun and Izayah Green-May man the outside linebacker spots, while Chris Orr and Jack Sanborn take care of the middle.
At the cornerback spots will be Faion Hicks and Deron Harrell, while Scott Nelson returns as the free safety and Reggie Pearson takes the strong safety slot.
Wisconsin kicks off the season on Friday night against South Florida.
