#5 Wisconsin set to take on #12 Oregon in NCAA Tournament

The Wisconsin men's basketball team (23-10) received the No. 5 seed in the South Region and will face 12-seeded Oregon (23-12) in the first round of the 2019 NCAA Tournament on Friday at SAP Center in San Jose, California.

The Badgers are making their 24th trip to the Big Dance overall and are one of five schools to appear in the NCAA tournament in 20 of the last 21 seasons.

Wisconsin and Oregon have met twice recently in the NCAA tournament with the Badgers recording wins over the Ducks in second round of the 2014 and 2015 tournaments. Overall, UW holds a 5-2 advantage in the all-time series with Oregon, including wins in the last four matchups. 

Wisconsin is 38-22 (.633) all-time in the NCAA tournament, reaching four Final Fours and 10 Sweet 16s. The Badgers have made six Sweet 16 appearances in the last 8 years, which is tied for most in the nation. The Badgers have made the NCAA tournament's second weekend in 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017.

The winner of the first-round matchup will face the winner of a game between No. 4 seed Kansas State and No. 13 seed UC Irvine in the round of 32 on Sunday, March 24.
