Paul Chryst told reporters Thursday that Jack Coan would start the Pinstripe Bowl in place of Alex Hornibrook. Coan will exceed the four-game threshold and lose his redshirt by playing in his fifth game this season.
Coan, who has gone 50 of 82 passing for four touchdowns, two interceptions, and 442 yards in the four games he has played in, has served in relief of Alex Hornibrook, who has been dealing with concussion symptoms for most of the year. Hornibrook played in nine games, throwing for 1,532 yards and 13 touchdowns, but also 11 interceptions.
Hornibrook was the MVP of the Orange Bowl in Wisconsin's win over Miami last year. The Badgers get the Hurricanes again this year, but this time in New York for the Pinstripe Bowl.
