Wisconsin's Big Ten West Division title hopes took a big hit on Saturday as the Badgers stumbled on the road at Northwestern, losing to the Wildcats 31-17.
Turnovers by the Badgers resulted in 17 Wildcats points. Jack Coan fumbled twice in one play, which set up a Northwestern drive from 13 yards away from the end zone. A muffed handoff exchange between Coan and Jonathan Taylor let to points, as did a fumble by Taylor later in the game.
Taylor failed to reach 100 yards rushing for the first time all season, notching just 45 yards on 11 carries.
Wisconsin has lost two games in Big Ten play and sit effectively two games back of Northwestern in the Big Ten West Division. The Badgers host Rutgers next Saturday.
