Wisconsin Badgers linemen have a reputation upon departing for the NFL, and Alec James is one of the next linemen looking to make an impact at the next level. While the typical image of a Badgers lineman is of a hulking behemoth, James is a player who offers positional versatility, particularly for a team that changes alignments or doesn't hold to conventional norms at front-seven positions.
It'll be interesting to see which team brings him in, and which role he will earn for that team in the NFL.
James is an active, athletic defensive lineman who lacks the physical traits of an NFL interior lineman and the athletic traits of a defensive end. While his instincts and awareness are top-notch, he might struggle to find a home on an NFL roster unless he can bulk up and carve out a niche as a sub-package interior rusher.
