Packers Trade Davante Adams To Raiders For Two Draft Picks

The Green Bay Packers have traded star wide receiver Davante Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders, ending Adams' eight year career with the Green and Gold.

In return for Adams, the Packers received the Raiders' first and second round selections in the upcoming 2022 NFL Draft. Those selections are the 22nd and 53rd overall picks, respectively.

The Packers put the franchise tag on Adams last week, but Adams had no intention of playing under the tag and Green Bay attempted to work out an extension, but according to reports, Adams was intent on leaving Green Bay and wanted to play for the Raiders to be with his college QB Derek Carr again.

The Raiders immediately signed Adams to a 5 year, $141.25MM contract.

Last season, Adams caught 123 passes for 1,553 yards and 11 touchdowns as Aaron Rodgers' favorite target.

Adams ends his Packers career 4th all-time in franchise history in receiving yards with 8,121, just 14 yards shy of clearing Sterling Sharpe for 3rd. He's second in franchise history in receptions and touchdown receptions.

For the Packers, wide receiver is now an even bigger offseason need than it was before, and that position will need to be addressed in free agency and/or the Draft. Thanks to this trade, the Packers now have extra first and second round picks that can be used to reload this roster with Day 1 players and/or potentially be used to trade up earlier in the draft for a prime target.
