NFL Draft Preview: Mock Draft Aggregate: Packers get their WR early

In a year in which the deepest position group is also the team's biggest area of need, the Packers are projected to go for a wide receiver early with their 10 selections in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Consensus among NFL Mock Drafts for the Green Bay Packers seems to be that the team will be spending its first pick (wherever it arrives) on a wide receiver, whether it happens with the #30 overall pick or if they trade down into the early second round. Here's a sampling of mock drafts from around the web today and what the Packers are projected to do.

Full Packers Mock Drafts

iHeartRadio: LB Patrick Queen, DL Raekwon Davis, WR K.J. Hamler: Yes, we went against the grain. The logic behind this was, the Packers will have lots of opportunity to add to WR later, whereas impact linebackers in the Draft are limited to a handful. If one falls to them at #30, it could represent a big opportunity on defense. However, there are a number of top receivers to be had late in the first round, so it makes sense that they'd opt for one of their targets in that spot as well.

Packer Report: WR Jalen Reagor, RB Jonathan Taylor, DL Jordan Elliott: Reagor is one of the top considerations for the Packers in a loaded WR class. Jonathan Taylor is an interesting option if he lasts that long as a productive college back in-state.

Packers Wire: WR Brandon Aiyuk, LB Akeem Davis-Gaither, DB K'Von Wallace: Aiyuk is a popular mock pick. Going defense the next two picks, this mock also adds linemen in later on down the board.

Lombardi Ave: LB Patrick Queen, WR Tee Higgins, DL Jordan Elliott: This one had a ton of trades in it, and assumes Queen makes it to the second round. It sets up much like you would expect, with the Packers hitting on three of their biggest needs right away.

Acme Packing Co: WR Brandon Aiyuk, TE Cole Kmet, LB Akeem Davis-Gaither: Tight end is generally a need but there's not a lot of high-end talent in this year's class. Aiyuk is a popular Packers mock pick. Davis-Gaither is a very intriguing mid-round linebacker prospect.

Dairyland Express: OL Josh Jones, WR Brandon Aiyuk, CB Damon Arnette: A little something different than the average mock draft for the Packers, as it assumes one of the top offensive tackles slides down to the end of the first round.

Fansided: WR Brandon Aiyuk, QB Jalen Hurts, OL Matt Peart: This mock includes trades and leaves the defense out of consideration early on. Aiyuk is a popular mock to the Packers by fans and media alike.

First Pick Only

Cheesehead TV: No consensus; WRs Justin Jefferson, Brandon Aiyuk, Tee Higgins, Laviska Shenault, and Jalen Reagor each receive multiple considerations. Others include DL Raekwon Davis, RB Clyde Edwards-Telaire, and LB Jordyn Brooks.

Roundups

Packers Wire: No consensus. WR is as always a popular mock, but a couple of projections new to this article include DB Jaylon Johnson, EDGE A.J. Espenesa, and QB Jordan Love.

Lombardi Ave: Wide receiver. Aiyuk is on a ton of lists.

Fox Sports Wisconsin: Of 61 Mock Drafts reviewed, Aiyuk is on 12 of them and Mims is on 10 of them. Plenty of expectation for wide receiver. Some new names include LB Zack Baun, LB Kenneth Murray, OL Austin Jackson, and OL Ezra Cleveland.
