Early season control of the NFC North is on the line when the Minnesota Vikings arrive at Lambeau Field Sunday afternoon to take on the Green Bay Packers.
When The Vikings Have The Ball
There's been a lot of attention paid, rightfully so, to the incredible production the Vikings got out of Dalvin Cook and the running game last week against the Atlanta Falcons. The Vikings were certainly effective on the ground, but they were allowed to stick with Mike Zimmer's favorite method of moving the football thanks to jumping out to a quick 14 point lead that ballooned to a 28-0 advantage that the Falcons never recovered from. Mike Pettine is much better equipped to deal with the Vikings love of the running game after Brian Gutekunst upgraded the talent level on his side of the ball significantly this offseason.
When The Packers Have The Ball
The Packers will look to get on track offensively by getting their running game going. Aaron Rodgers and the offense need to operate with a much higher sense of urgency from the moment they step onto the field Sunday afternoon. The prime time matchup in this one is Davante Adams vs Xavier Rhodes. The two pros have had some really compelling battles over the years, though Zimmer hasn't shied away from giving Rhodes help from time to time. Mostly, this will be a big game of cat and mouse between Mike Zimmer and Aaron Rodgers.
