Taking stock after Week 1 for the Green Bay Packers

Green Bay's newest arrivals on defense have fans thinking big things this year, but there's some work to do on the other side of the ball as the Packers get ready for Minnesota in Week 2.

David Michalski of Cheesehead TV takes stock of the team after the opener, noting that the new arrivals all played very well on defense, but the offensive line is still a question mark at this stage.

  • Stock Up: Preston Smith, Darnell Savage, Adrian Amos: Smith was pressuring Trubisky and causing utter chaos for the Bears offensive line. Amos along with rookie standout Darnell Savage has stabilized the back end of the Packers secondary with their nose for the ball and their ability to make plays.
  • Coaches, Take A Bow: After a rough first couple series, Mike Pettine made quick adjustments which helped shut the Bears offense down for the remainder of the contest.... Who knows where this season will end up, but for the moment, cheers to Matt LaFleur on his first NFL win and for changing the culture of this team with a breath of fresh air.
  • Also, Jimmy Graham: Let's face it, everyone buried Jimmy Graham this offseason. Now, for at least one night, he stuck it to all of us by grabbing a contested touchdown pass in traffic.
  • Stock Down: If Lane Taylor wasn't playing the role of the revolving door, Hicks, Mack, and Smith were speed rushing around Brian Bulaga and pushing aside Billy Turner. Their efforts in the run game were not much better as the right side of the field seemingly slammed shut on Aaron Jones for the better part of the game.
