ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the Green Bay Packers are set to release Josh Jones on Sunday. Jones was a second-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft by the Packers, but had requested a trade this offseason.
Jones confirmed the news on his social media accounts.
Jones appeared in 29 games with the Packers, with 12 starts. He recorded 122 tackles, seven pass breakups, and an interception in his first two years in the NFL.
This offseason, the Packers signed former Bears safety Adrian Amos and drafted Darnell Savage to the position, which prompted Jones to seek a trade request.
Green Bay's final preseason game is this Thursday against Kansas City.
