Packers in talent acquisition mode this week as the preseason wraps up

If Sunday's moves were any indication, the Green Bay Packers are seriously engaged in acquiring talent this week to address needs at running back and at various spots on the defense as the 2019 season begins in less than two weeks.

Jason Perone of Cheesehead TV analyzes the latest set of moves and what it means for the Packers as they get ready for their fourth and final preseason game this Thursday night against Kansas City:

  • Release of Josh Jones: The Jones release isn't that big of a surprise but it takes a body away from the safety position as well as in the middle of the defense.
  • Release of Darrin Hall: The Packers don't lack bodies at running back right now. The issue seems to be the confidence that the team has in some of the young backs vying for a roster spot.
  • Signing of Nicholas Grigsby and James Folston: Linebacker Curtis Bolton was hurt in Thursday night's game against the Oakland Raiders and it looks to be a longer-term injury.
  • The Packers also signed undrafted free agent cornerback Jocquez Kilili.
