Aaron Nagler of Cheesehead TV, who you can hear daily on iHeartMedia-Wisconsin stations, offers his instant takes on the Packers' 28-26 preseason victory over the Houston Texans at Lambeau Field in Green Bay.
Of interest were the quarterbacks, as three vie for the backup job behind Aaron Rodgers:
- DeShone Kizer is just too inconsistent
- Tim Boyle had a really nice night. Lots of folks will focus on the TD pass to Lazard, but he had a throw on a bootleg ealier with a guy in his face that was really sweet.
There's also a scrum of players trying to make the team at wide receiver:
- Jake Kumerow is making this team.
- Tough night for J'Mon Moore, but I'm glad he ended up finding the endzone.
- That was a hell of a touchdown catch by Allen Lazard, and the flex on Lonnie Johnson was even better.
Some of the young defenders stood out as well:
- Kingsley Keke is a player
- Ty Summer started hot then seemed to kind of lose his legs as the game went on. That said, really promising start from the rookie.
- Ka’dar Hollman took advantage of a poor throw by Joe Webb, but his interception was sweet. Great job jumping in front of the receiver and taking the ball away.
- Montravious Adams did some nice things tonight.
