Packers Shell Out Big Money For Four Free Agents

With four free-agent signings reported on Tuesday, it appears the Green Bay Packers will shell out some big bucks for the newest members of the team. All four players were signed for four seasons for a combined total of $184.5 million.

The deals can't officially be signed until Wednesday, but terms were reported on Tuesday for all four of the players the Packers are set to sign.

  • Former Baltimore edge rusher Za'Darius Smith will get $20 million as a signing bonus for a four-year, $66 million contract that includes $34.5 million in the first two years.
  • Former Washington edge rusher Preston Smith will sign for four years at $52 million, including a $16 million signing bonus and $27.5 million in the first two years.
  • Former Chicago safety Adrian Amos is set to make $37 million over four years, including $21 million in the first two seasons.
  • Former Denver offensive lineman Billy Turner will rake in $11 million in the first year of a four-year, $28 million deal that could max out at $29.5 million.

In the lone cost-cutting move reported Tuesday morning, the Packers will release edge rusher Nick Perry, who signed a 5-year, $59 million extension in 2016.
