Team and individual champions were crowned in two divisions at the State Girls Golf Championships at the Meadow Valleys Course at Blackwolf Run Tuesday.
Jessica Guiser of Arrowhead is the first freshman to win the Division 1 individual title since 2009, capturing medalist honors with a 27-hole score of 119 and winning a one-hole playoff over Elise Hoven of Cedarburg. Hoven improved on last season’s third-place finish.
Last year’s runner-up Brookfield Central captured the Division 1 team championship with a four-player score of 516 for 27 holes. Waunakee and Arrowhead, who was fourth last season, tied for second with scores of 526.
Lauren Haen of Xavier captured the Division 2 individual championship with a 27-hole score of 125 after finishing sixth last season. Ava Salay of Prescott finished second with a score of 126, and Ashley Stanislawski of Catholic Memorial and Sophia Lawler of The Prairie School tied for third three strokes behind the winner with a 128.
Prescott won the Division 2 team championship with a 27-hole, four-player score of 560, 19 strokes less than The Prairie School, who was runner-up with a score of 579. Two-time former defending champion Edgewood was 3rd with a 580.
