HSBB: DeForest finishes as last Badger Conference team standing

After winning a state championship in football, several key players from the gridiron made their mark on the DeForest boys basketball program as well this winter.

With the cancellation of the high school boys basketball tournament before the sectional finals, only one Badger Conference team remained standing: the DeForest Norskies.

Coach Craig Weisbrod knows that the football players on the team had already experienced the thrill of winning a state title in football, but feels as though they've lost something special with the cancellation of the basketball tournament.

"You feel for the guys who weren't part of that football run on our team," said Weisbrod to 1070 The Game. "But even for the guys who made it, how special would that have been?"

With Waunakee and Stoughton (who DeForest defeated) both losing in sectional semifinals on the last night of the season, only DeForest remained from the 16-team Badger Conference in the WIAA Boys State Basketball Tournament.
