HSH: WHCA Names All-State Team

The Wisconsin Hockey Coaches Association named their All-State team for the 2019-2020 season.

Division 1 champion Verona had three first-team selections, including goalie Kaden Grant, a junior, who made his second all-state squad. Junior Nathan Jurrens earned a nod at defenseman, while senior Cale Rufenacht earned his second honor as a forward.

Sauk Prairie senior Riley Jelinek and Sun Prairie senior Kaden Brunson also earned all-state honors at forward.

Earning honorable mention at forward: Edgewood senior Drew Lenz, Sun Prairie senior Carter Watters, Verona junior Walker Haessig, Monroe junior Cade Janecke, Verona junior Leo Renlunc, and Edgewood sophomore Cody Menzel.

Honorable mention recipients at defenseman include Madison West senior Devin Huie, Waunakee junior Drew Christianson, Sun Prairie junior Nick Johnson, Verona junior Josh Osting, and Edgewood junior Nathan Walker.

Monroe coach Barry Einbeck was a finalist for the Bob Johnson Coach of the Year Award, while Madison West assistant coach Rich Smith was named the assistant coach of the year in D1-Sectional 3.
