Bucks defense wilts late in Atlanta

The Milwaukee Bucks led the Atlanta Hawks 78-70 after three quarters Sunday night at State Farm Arena. The Hawks were held to just 39.4% (28-74) shooting from the field; 20.8% (5-24) from the three-point line.

Then the fourth quarter happened.

In the final frame, Atlanta found both their shot and porous Milwaukee defense in scorching the nets to the tune of 70.6% (12-17) overall; 75% (9-12) from beyond the three-point line in rallying to a 111-104 victory over a Bucks team that had dominated Philadelphia some 27 hours prior.

“It just felt like we were little bit in mud the second half,” Bucks coach Mike Budenholzer said after the game to reporters via Zoom. “Credit to Atlanta. They played well. They had a great finish to the fourth quarter, and we couldn’t get much going offensively.”

Giannis Antetokounmpo’s 31 points led Milwaukee. The Bucks also got 23 from Khris Middleton and 19 from Jrue Holiday.

Milwaukee (37-23) now heads to Charlotte to play the Hornets (30-30) Tuesday night.
