Giannis scores 47, but Bucks still lose

Two-time defending NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo missed a 20-foot shot at the buzzer that would have lifted the Milwaukee Bucks to their sixth win in a row Wednesday night in Phoenix. Instead, Milwaukee comes up short in a game that simply slipped away from them in the second half.

Leading 71-59 at the half, the Bucks would only score 53 points the rest of the way in their 125-124 loss at Phoenix Suns Arena. Antetokounmpo tried to carry the load himself, scoring 30 of his 47 points in the second half. Overall, he was 15-of-23 shooting from the field and 17-of-21 from the free throw line. But fellow All-Star Khris Middleton struggled from the field, shooting just 7-of-17 and finishing with 18 points.

Phoenix (15-9) has played Milwaukee (16-9) well over the last three years, winning four of their last five meetings.

The Bucks continue their road trip Friday night at Utah.
