Kobe Bryant issued a challenge to Giannis Antetokounmpo in August of 2017, to win MVP. Giannis accomplished the feat in June of 2019.
At the time, it seemed like a stretch that Antetokounmpo could rise that quickly to the ranks of the elite in the NBA. Then 22, the NBA was ripe with the talents of LeBron James, Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, Kawhi Leonard, James Harden, and others. But at age 24, and still clearly on the rise, Giannis became the second player in Milwaukee Bucks history to win the league's MVP award, and in dominating fashion over James Harden.
