Brewers Keep Rolling With 5-3 Win Over Nationals

The Milwaukee Brewers continued their winning ways on Friday night with a 5-3 win over the Washington Nationals at American Family Field.

The Nationals jumped on Brewers starter Wade Miley in the first inning with three runs. However, Miley and catcher William Contreras made adjustments before the second inning, and Miley was able to pitch into the sixth inning without giving up another run.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, the offense came alive on two big swings for Milwaukee. William Contreras hit a three-run home run to tie the game at three. Next, Carlos Santana hit a solo home run to give the Brewers a 4-3 lead.

The bullpen was magnificent again and held the Nationals at three runs. Santana added another home run in the bottom of the eighth inning to extend the Milwaukee lead to 5-3. That would be the final score as Devin Williams nailed down his 35th save of the season.

The Brewers are 83-64. They host the Nationals for the second game of the series on Saturday night at 6:10pm at American Family Field. After the game, listen to the Baseball Postgame Show on 97.3 The Game in Milwaukee and the iHeart Radio App.
