Brewers Offense Quiet in 4-1 Loss To Pirates

Other than a ninth inning run, the Milwaukee Brewers offense was quiet on Sunday afternoon in their loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates 4-1.

The name of the day? Johan Oviedo. The Pirates starting pitcher held the Brewers scoreless through seven innings. He struck out six batters and allowed only two hits.

The Brewers got a brief rally going in the ninth inning when the first two batters reached, but scratched only a run across on a Pirates error.

The best part of the day was the return of Brandon Woodruff. In his first start since April, he went five innings and struck out nine Pirates batters. His only big mistakes turned into two solo home runs for Pittsburgh.

Because the Cincinnati Reds lost on Sunday, the Brewers still hold a 1.5 game lead in the NL Central. However, the Chicago Cubs beat the Atlanta Braves, and are 1.5 games behind the Brewers now as well.

On Monday, Milwaukee will start a three-game series at home against the Colorado Rockies. The first pitch is at 7:10pm. After the game, listen to the Baseball Postgame Show with Tim Allen on 97.3 The Game and the iHeart Radio App.
