It was a case of so close, but yet so far, for the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday night. Milwaukee scored three runs in the ninth inning, but the comeback fell just short in their 4-3 loss to the Cincinnati Reds.
The Brewers had their chances earlier in the game but couldn't cash in. Heading to the ninth inning, they had mustered seven hits and had at least one base runner every inning, but didn't score.
In the ninth inning, Christian Yelich hit a three-run home run to get the Brewers within one run at 4-3. William Contreras was able to reach base and then Willy Adames was hit in the head. With the tying run in scoring position, Andruw Monasterio flew out to centerfield and the Brewers lost 4-3 to the Reds.
Throughout the night, Milwaukee's pitching kept them in the game. Corbin Burnes threw six innings and allowed just two runs. The bullpen allowed two runs over three innings.
Milwaukee is 56-46. They will go for the series win on Wednesday afternoon at 1:10pm at American Family Field. After the game, listen to the Baseball Postgame Show with Tim Allen on 97.3 The Game in Milwaukee and the iHeart Radio App.
