Brewers Rally For Comeback Win Over Cubs 8-6

The Milwaukee Brewers found themselves down six runs early on Monday afternoon against the Chicago Cubs, but came back to get the 8-6 win.

Julio Teheran (who had been so solid for Milwaukee on the mound this season) gave up six runs to the Cubs in the first three innings. Milwaukee found themselves down 6-0 heading into the bottom of the third inning. But the Brewers fought back.

Milwaukee scored three runs in the bottom of the third inning, highlighted by a William Contreras RBI-double and a Christian Yelich RBI-triple. The Brewers cut the deficit in half and trailed 6-3 heading to the fourth inning.

The score remained 6-3 until the bottom of the seventh inning when newcomer Jahmai Jones came to the plate with the bases loaded and two outs. Jones, who was signed Monday morning, delivered. He cleared the bases with a three-run double over the head of Cody Bellinger in centerfield and the game was tied 6-6.

In the eighth inning, Willy Adames gave Milwaukee the lead with an RBI single and Owen Miller added a sacrifice fly to extend the lead to 8-6.

Devin Williams earned his 18th save in the ninth inning and Milwaukee completed the comeback win over the Cubs 8-6. Listen to the postgame show with Tim Allen from Monday afternoon below.

It was the biggest comeback win of the season for the Brewers.

Milwaukee is 46-39 and tied for first place in the NL Central with the Cincinnati Reds. The second game of the series with the Cubs will begin at 3:10pm on Tuesday afternoon. After the game, listen to the Baseball Postgame Show with Tim Allen on 97.3 The Game in Milwaukee and the iHeart Radio App.
