Brewers Complete Sweep of Pirates with 5-2 Win

After not winning a baseball game for a week, the Milwaukee Brewers bounced back in the biggest way possible over the weekend. They swept their division rival, the Pittsburgh Pirates.

The Brewers completed the sweep with a 5-2 win over the Pirates on Sunday afternoon. It was a rare comeback win for Milwaukee, as they scored four runs in the eighth inning to take the game.

The Pirates led for most of the afternoon. They took the lead on a two-run home run by Bryan Reynolds in the third inning and led 2-0.

The Brewers scratched across a run in the fifth inning to cut the deficit to 2-1. The game remained at 2-1 until the eighth inning when the Brewers bats came alive.

William Contreras hit an RBI single to tie the game. Raimel Tapia hit a sacrifice fly to give the Brewers the lead at 3-2. Then Luis Urias broke out of his slump with a two-RBI single that extended the Milwaukee lead to 5-2.

Devin Williams slammed the door by retiring the Pirates in order in the ninth inning and the Brewers completed the sweep with a 5-2 win.

The Brewers are 37-34. They will host the Arizona Diamondbacks for a three-game series starting on Monday night at 7:10pm. Listen to Tim Allen on the Baseball Postgame Show after the game on 97.3 The Game in Milwaukee and the iHeart Radio App!
