Brewers Drop Second Straight to Athletics with 2-1 Loss in 10 innings

The Milwaukee Brewers have dropped the first two games of the series against the worst team in baseball, the Oakland Athletics. On Saturday, the Brewers lost 2-1 in 10 innings.

Heading into the eighth inning, the Athletics had kept the Brewers scoreless for 14 consecutive innings and led 1-0.

William Contreras came to the plate and hit his first career pinch-hit home run in the bottom of the eighth inning to tie the game at one.

However, the game would go to extra innings, and the Athletics scored one run in the top of the tenth inning to take a 2-1 lead. Despite Victor Caratini getting to third base, the Brewers came up empty in the bottom of the tenth inning and lost 2-1.

On the bright side, Julio Teheran started for Milwaukee and was dominant again. In his fourth start for the Brewers, Teheran went seven innings and allowed just one run. He struck out six batters and walked only one. He has a 1.48 ERA with the Brewers in four starts.

Elvis Peguero and Devin Williams pitched scoreless innings in relief for Milwaukee. Joel Payamps allowed an unearned run in the top of the tenth inning.

Milwaukee is 34-31. They will try to avoid the sweep on Sunday afternoon at 1:10pm at American Family Field. After the game, listen to the Baseball Postgame Show with Tim Allen on 97.3 The Game in Milwaukee and on the iHeart Radio App.
