Strong Performance From Burnes Leads Brewers To 5-1 Win Over Royals

The Milwaukee Brewers got back to basics and got back to winning on Friday night. Corbin Burnes pitched six innings without allowing a run for the Brewers in their 5-1 victory over the Kansas City Royals.

Christian Yelich drove in the first run of the game with an RBI single in the first inning that scored Willy Adames. That gave Milwaukee a 1-0 lead.

Owen Miller extended the lead in the third inning with a solo home run. It was his first home run in a Brewers uniform. Miller finished the night just a triple shy of the cycle.

The Brewers added another run in the fourth inning to make it a 3-0 lead.

Corbin Burnes exited after six innings. He allowed no runs and just two hits.

After the Royals scored a run in the top of the seventh inning, the Brewers loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh inning and scored two runs. They led 5-1. That would be the final.

Milwaukee is 21-17 on the season. They host the Royals for the second game of the series on Saturday night at American Family Field at 6:10pm. After the game, listen to Tim Allen on The Baseball Postgame Show.
