Homers Power Brewers to 9-3 Win over Dodgers

The Milwaukee Brewers offense came alive in a big way on Monday night. Two home runs powered the Brewers to a 9-3 win in the series opener against the Los Angeles Dodgers at American Family Field.

The game was scoreless through four innings as starters Tony Gonsolin (Dodgers) and Freddy Peralta (Brewers) were cruising on the mound. However, Brewers CF Joey Wiemer opened up the scoring in the bottom of the fifth inning. Wiemer hit a three-run home run to give Milwaukee a 3-0 lead. The Dodgers got a run in the top of the 6th inning, but that was it against Peralta. Peralta went six innings and allowed just one run.

In the seventh inning, the Brewers blew the game open. Milwaukee scored six runs including a three-run home run by Willy Adames. Adames has homered in back-to-back games and has seven home runs on the season. The Brewers led 9-1 heading to the eighth inning.

The Dodgers were kept scoreless in the eighth inning, but Chris Taylor hit a two-run home run in the ninth inning to cut the Brewers lead to 9-3. But that would be the end of the scoring for the night. Milwaukee won 9-3.

The Brewers will go for their third straight win on Tuesday night at 6:40pm in the second game of the series against the Los Angeles Dodgers. After the game, Tim Allen will host the Baseball Postgame Show on 97.3 The Game in Milwaukee and on the iHeart Radio App.
