The Milwaukee Brewers had a 4-0 lead heading to the seventh inning on Thursday afternoon. Wade Miley was cruising, the offense had come alive, and they were set up to snap their losing streak. However, the Colorado Rockies had other plans.
The Rockies scored nine runs combined in the seventh and eighth innings to secure a 9-6 win over Milwaukee and complete the sweep of the Brewers at Coors Field.
Colorado scored three runs against Miley and one run against Joel Payamps in the seventh inning to tie the game at four.
In the eighth inning, Peter Strzelecki continued his struggles in Colorado. He allowed five earned runs and was able to get just one out. That gave Colorado a 9-4 lead heading into the ninth inning.
The Brewers scored two runs in the ninth inning, but it wasn’t enough and the sweep was completed. Milwaukee has lost four games in a row.
The good news? The Brewers hit their first home run on Thursday since last Friday night against the Los Angeles Angels. In fact, they hit three home runs. Christian Yelich, Rowdy Tellez, and Tyrone Taylor all hit solo home runs in the loss.
