As usual in 2023, the defense came to play for the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday night. Willy Adames and Joey Wiemer made outstanding plays to keep the Los Angeles Angels mainly silent on the scoreboard in the Brewers 2-1 win over the team from Anaheim.
It was all about pitching and defense on Friday night. Wade Miley continued his impressive season, going six innings and allowing just one run. He didn’t walk a batter. The Brewers bullpen continued to prove they are the real deal with three shutout innings, including a Devin Williams save in the ninth inning.
The Brewers scored in their first and last at-bat on Friday night. Willy Adames hit a solo home run in the top of the first inning to give Milwaukee the 1-0 lead. The Angels struck back with a run in the top of the fourth inning to tie the game at one.
The game remained tied until Rowdy Tellez hit an RBI single to right field to bring home the leading run in the bottom of the eighth inning. Milwaukee won 2-1.
The Brewers are 17-9. They host the Angels for the second game of the series on Saturday night at 6:10pm at American Family Field. Tim Allen will host the Baseball Postgame Show presented by Hitters Baseball Academy immediately after the game. Brewers Bench Coach Pat Murphy will join the show
