Brewers Finish Sweep of Mariners with 5-3 Win

The Milwaukee Brewers completed a sweep of the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday afternoon with a 5-3 win.

Seattle jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the third inning when Julio Rodriguez hit a home run off of Brewers starter Eric Lauer.

That score remained steady until the seventh inning. That is when the Brewers offense came alive and stole the game from the Mariners at T-Mobile park.

In the seventh inning, Milwaukee loaded the bases with nobody out. Luke Voit hit an RBI single to put the Brewers on the board. Owen Miller popped out for the first out of the inning. Christian Yelich pinch-hit for Joey Wiemer and struck out. Then, with two outs, Brice Turang came through. He hit a two-RBI single to give the Brewers a 3-2 lead. Rowdy Tellez followed that up with a two-RBI single of his own to extend the Milwaukee advantage to 5-2.

Eric Lauer pitched into the eighth inning and gave up just two runs in an impressive performance. Peter Strzelecki allowed a run in the ninth inning, but Matt Bush came into the game and got two quick outs to seal the Brewers 5-3 victory.

Milwaukee has won four games in a row and went 7-3 on the road trip. They are 14-5.

The Brewers are off on Thursday before opening up a three-game home series against the Boston Red Sox on Friday night at 7:10pm. Listen to Tim Allen on The Baseball Postgame Show presented by Hitters Baseball Academy after the game.
