Turang's Big Day Leads Brewers Past Mets 10-0

It was the first game at American Family Field in 2023, and it couldn't have gone better for the home team on Monday afternoon. The Milwaukee Brewers cruised past the New York Mets 10-0 to earn their third straight win.

Brewers Manager Craig Counsell decided to play all three of his rookies in the first home game of the season and it paid off. Garrett Mitchell, Joey Wiemer, and Brice Turang all contributed to the blowout win, especially Turang. The Brewers second baseman had a day he will never forget, hitting his first big league home run. That home run happened to be a grand slam that gave the Brewers a 10-0 lead in the fifth inning.

Brewers starter Freddy Peralta was dominant in his first outing of 2023. He went six innings, struck out seven batters, and walked three Mets. He didn't allow a run. He said today's start was basically "perfect" and he nearly cried when Turang hit the grand slam.

Brewers relief pitcher Bryse Wilson pitched the last three innings of the game and preserved the shutout.

The Brewers will continue their series against the Mets on Tuesday night at 6:40pm at American Family Field. After the game, listen to "The Baseball Postgame Show" with Tim Allen presented by Hitters Baseball Academy.
