Brewers Lose Opener 4-0 To Cubs

A new season began on Thursday, but for the Milwaukee Brewers it began on a sour note. Milwaukee lost 4-0 to the Chicago Cubs on Opening Day after mustering just four hits.

The Brewers have lost to the Cubs on Opening Day three of the last four seasons.

After mowing down the Cubs in the first two innings, Corbin Burnes ran into trouble in the third inning. He allowed four runs to score, aided by some mistakes by the Brewers defense.

Cubs starter Marcus Stroman was dominant. He struck out eight Brewers over six innings and allowed just three hits.

A bright spot for Milwaukee came in the top of the third inning when Bryce Turang collected his first MLB hit. Turang was making his MLB debut.

Brewers bullpen arm Gus Varland also made his MLB debut and pitched a scoreless inning.

The Brewers are off on Friday before returning to action at Wrigley Field on Saturday afternoon at 1:20pm against the Cubs.
