Report: Brewers Trade Kolten Wong To Mariners For Two Players

The Winter Meetings haven't begun, but the Brewers have already made their second trade of the offseason. Brewers 2B Kolten Wong has been traded to the Seattle Mariners for OF Jesse Winker and IF Abraham Toro, according to multiple reports. Ken Rosenthal first reported the trade.

The Brewers had picked up the option of Kolten Wong and were set to pay him $10M this season. Milwaukee will send $1.75M to Seattle as part of the trade.

Jesse Winker is coming off his worst career season. He batted .219 with 14 home runs and 53 RBI. However, in 2021, Winker was an All-Star in Cincinnati. Winker hit .305 with 24 home runs and 71 RBI. In addition, Winker has performed very well at American Family Field. He has a career .344 batting average in Milwaukee.

Abraham Toro is a switch-hitting infielder. Toro played in a career-high 109 games last season, but hit just .185 with 10 home runs and 35 RBI. However, he does have four years of team control.
