Fantastic Pitching Leads to Brewers 5-1 Win Over Reds

Adrian Houser was dynamite, Willy Adames homered, and the Brewers bounced back with a 5-1 victory over the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday night in Milwaukee.

The first two batters of the game scored for the Brewers. Christian Yelich led off the game with a walk. Then, Willy Adames stepped to the plate and hit a two-run home run to give the Brewers an early 2-0 lead.

Adrian Houser would keep the Brewers in front through his six innings of work. It was a bizarre start for Houser because he only allowed one hit and one run, but didn’t strike out a batter. The last pitcher in the MLB to throw six innings and allow one hit or fewer and not strike out a batter was Houston’s Randy Hennis in 1990 (according to Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel).

The Brewers tacked on a run in the seventh inning. Tyrone Taylor hit a triple to left field and Yelich brought him home on an RBI single. The Brewers led 3-1 after seven innings.

The Brewers added two more runs on a two-run home run by Andrew McCutchen in the eighth inning to extend the lead to 5-1.

Taylor Rogers, Matt Bush, and Brad Boxberger all threw scoreless innings for Milwaukee to secure the 5-1 win.

The Brewers will try to win the series against the Reds on Sunday afternoon at 1:10pm at American Family Field.
