The future is here. Garrett Mitchell, a highly touted prospect and 2020 first round draft pick, has arrived in Milwaukee after being called up to the big league club late Friday night.
Mitchell has spent the better part of August in Triple-A Nashville and has been lighting it up. He has hit .343/.435/.466 in 85 plate appearances since being promoted from Double-A.
Mitchell was a star at UCLA before being drafted 20th overall by Milwaukee in 2020. He played in just 64 games in the minor leagues last season due to a leg injury. He missed about two months with an oblique strain this season, but has made the most of his time on the field.
Brewers Manager Craig Counsell said Mitchell will get the start on Sunday against the Cubs.
