Houser Struggles in Brewers 12-6 Loss to Dodgers

Adrian Houser returned from the IL to make his first start in months for the Brewers on Wednesday, and it did not go well. He allowed five earned runs over just 2.1 innings and the Brewers lost 12-6 to the Dodgers. The Dodgers took the series in Los Angeles and the season series with the win.

The Brewers actually scored first with a Willy Adames solo home run in the first inning. It was the 25th of the season for Adames who finished the night a triple shy of the cycle.

However, the Dodgers answered right back. Walks by Houser led to the Dodgers scoring four runs in the first inning. The Dodgers led 4-1 after the first inning.

In the top of the third inning, Hunter Renfroe hit an RBI double to score the second run of the night for the Brewers. But again, the Dodgers answered.

Los Angeles scored another run in the bottom of the third inning. They followed that up with a four-run fourth inning to extend their lead to 9-2. The Dodgers never looked back.

The Brewers scored on a two-RBI double by Adames in the 7th inning and a two-run home run by Hunter Renfroe in the 9th inning. However, it wasn’t enough as the Dodgers won 12-6.

The Cardinals lost to the Cubs, so the Brewers remain 5.5 games back in the NL Central. The Padres also lost on Wednesday, so the Brewers are 1.5 games behind San Diego for the final wild card spot.

The Brewers are off on Thursday before starting a weekend home series against the Chicago Cubs on Friday night.
