The Milwaukee Brewers returned to American Family Field in need of some home cooking after a series loss in St. Louis, but the bats remained cold as the Crew dropped the series opener against the Dodgers 4-0.
Los Angeles took an early lead against Freddy Peralta on a solo home run by Freddie Freeman in the 1st inning. The Brewers threatened to respond in the bottom of the 1st with two on and nobody out, but left Christian Yelich and Willy Adames stranded.
Milwaukee had another opportunity in the 3rd inning after a leadoff double from Tyrone Taylor and a walk from Yelich, but again they were unable to drive them in and take advantage of the opportunity against Dodgers starter Julio Urias.
The Dodgers added another run in the 5th after a Willy Adames error let Mookie Betts on base. Trea Turner got him to 3rd on a single and Will Smith brought Betts home on a sac fly to Yelich. As a finishing touch, Gavin Lux added a two run homer in the 6th inning to make it a 4-0 Dodgers lead and that was all the Dodgers needed.
The Brewers were unable to register a hit past the 4th inning and have lost 8 of 12 since the Trade Deadline with Monday's loss.
They'll look to bounce back on Tuesday with Brandon Woodruff (9-3, 3.52 ERA) on the mound against Ryan Pepiot (1-0, 3.92 ERA) of the Dodgers.
