Brewers Trade Josh Hader To San Diego Padres

The Milwaukee Brewers have traded their All-Star Closer Josh Hader to the San Diego Padres for two major league players and two prospects, the team announced on Monday afternoon.

The Padres sent back their own closer, Taylor Rogers, righty Dinelson Lamet, pitching prospect Robert Gasser and outfield prospect Esteury Ruiz.

Josh Hader has a career worst 4.24 ERA this season after a very rough July. However, Hader was named to his fourth All-Star game this season and is second in Brewers history in saves.

"The players we are receiving in this trade help ensure that the future of the Milwaukee Brewers remains bright while not compromising our desire and expectation to win today," said President of Baseball Operations David Stearns.

Taylor Rogers will come to Milwaukee with the second-most saves in the National League. David Stearns didn't commit to who will be the closer, presumably between Rogers and Brewers reliever Devin Williams.

The Brewers are off on Monday and will start a three-game series in Pittsburgh on Tuesday night.
