Brewers Beat Rockies 10-9 in Long and Wild Game

It was a long and wild game at AmFam Field on Sunday afternoon, but the Brewers were clutch when called upon in their 10-9 win over the Rockies.

The Brewers picked up right where they left off on Saturday night, by scoring three runs in the first inning. Christian Yelich started the inning with a triple. Willy Adames immediately brought him in with a sacrifice fly. Later in the inning, the Brewers loaded the bases and Luis Urias hit a two-run double with two outs. The Brewers led 3-0 after the first inning.

The Rockies scored one run in the second and third innings to cut the Brewers lead to 3-2. However, Hunter Renfroe hit his third home run in as many days, to extend the Brewers lead to 5-2.

Eric Lauer struggled a bit and didn’t make it out of the fifth inning for the Brewers. He finished with four runs allowed and exited with the Brewers clinging to a 5-4 lead.

Jandel Gustave allowed two runs in the sixth inning to give the Rockies their first lead of the day at 6-5.

Tyrone Taylor hit his 10th home run of the season in the bottom of the sixth inning to tie the game at six.

The Rockies scored two runs for the third consecutive inning in the seventh inning. This time, the runs came against Brad Boxberger. The Rockies had an 8-6 lead.

Mike Brosseau hit an RBI double in the bottom of the seventh inning when he pinch-hit for Kolten Wong. The Brewers cut the deficit to 8-7 after seven innings.

In the bottom of the 8th inning, Rowdy Tellez hit a two-out, two-strike single to score Yelich and tie the game at eight. Then, Andrew McCutchen stepped to the plate. With two strikes, he lined a two-RBI double over the head of Daza in centerfield to give the Brewers a 10-8 lead.

Hader allowed a run, but collected the save in the 9th inning to make the final score 10-9. The Brewers have won three games in a row.

The Brewers will go for the sweep of this four-game series against Colorado on Monday night at 7:10 at American Family Field.
