It was a beautiful and long night at American Family Field and the Brewers sent the fans home happy with a 6-5 walk-off win over Colorado in 13 innings.
Luis Urias hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the 13th inning to give Milwaukee their 51st win of the season.
The runs first came for both teams in the third inning. Charlie Blackmon hit a two-run home run off Corbin Burnes to give the Rockies a 2-0 lead.
The Brewers answered right back in the bottom of the third inning when Willy Adames hit a solo home run with two outs. It was the 20th of the season for Adames. Rowdy Tellez followed that up with a double and Andrew McCutchen hit his 10th home run of the season to give the Brewers a 3-2 lead.
That lead held until the 6th inning when Brewers pitcher Trevor Gott relived Corbin Burnes. Gott retired the first two batters but walked Jose Iglesias. Elias Diaz hit an RBI double to tie the game at three.
Corbin Burnes finished with five innings pitched, two earned runs, two walks, and five strikeouts.
Both teams could not score through the 9th inning.
Brad Boxberger, Devin Williams, and Josh Hader dominated their innings of relief. Williams struck out the side and Hader bounced back with two strikeouts in the ninth inning.
In the 10th inning, the Rockies quickly regained the lead on an RBI single by Charlie Blackmon against Jandel Gustave. Then a sac-fly scored Blackmon to make it 5-3 Rockies. Hoby Milner came in and retired Ryan McMahon to end the inning.
The Brewers first two batters of the 10th inning were retired. However, Hunter Renfroe with two strikes against him, crushed a two-run home run to left field to tie the game at five.
Neither team scored in the 11th inning.
Brent Suter pitched a scoreless innings in the 12th and 13th for the Brewers. The Brewers walked it off in the bottom of the 13th inning with an RBI single by Luis Urias.
The second game of the four-game series will be Saturday night at 6:10pm at AmFam Field.
