Balk Call in 8th Inning Gives Brewers 2-1 Loss to Giants

The Brewers losses this week have been tough and Saturday night’s loss followed suit.

After a pitchers duel between Alex Cobb and Eric Lauer, the Brewers and Giants were tied at one in the bottom of the 8th inning. Jandel Gustave relieved Brent Suter with two outs and runners on first and second base. Gustave hit Evan Longoria with a pitch to load the bases. With Mike Yastrzemski at the plate, Gustave was called for a balk which allowed Wilmer Flores to score. That gave the Giants a 2-1 lead.

Willy Adames led off the 9th inning with a single, but was stranded at third base when Kolten Wong struck out to end the game.

The Brewers have lost three of their last four games, with all winning runs coming in the last at-bat for the opposition.

The Brewers will play the last game of the four game series in San Francisco on Sunday afternoon at 3:05pm. Following Sunday's game, the team will be off until Friday for the All Star Break.
