Burnes Dominates As Brewers Top Giants 3-2 In Extra Innings

It was a late night, but the Milwaukee Brewers pulled out a 3-2 victory over the San Francisco Giants in 10 innings on Thursday night.

The Giants got on the board first, scoring a pair of runs in the bottom of the 3rd on a passed ball by Victor Caratini, followed by a single from Joc Pederson. The Brewers would answer back in the top of the 4th with a sacrifice fly from Andrew McCutchen to cut the deficit in half.

Milwaukee added another in the 6th inning as Willy Adames singled home Jonathan Davis to tie it up.

Corbin Burnes, meanwhile, was cruising. Burnes struck out 10 Giants in 7.1 IP, scattering just four hits while lowering his season ERA to 2.14. He left with a pair of runners on in the 8th but Hoby Milner got out of the jam to keep the game tied heading into the 9th. It was Burnes' 6th straight quality start.

In the 10th, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, Jonathan Davis hit a slow roller up the third base line for an infield single that scored Christian Yelich. That would be just enough for Devin Williams, who entered in the bottom of the 10th and secured the victory while earning his 6th save of the year.

Next up, the Brewers have Brandon Woodruff on the mound Friday night against Alex Wood for the Giants.
