Brewers Pummel Pirates 19-2

The Brewers scored early and scored often on Friday night en route to a 19-2 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates.

The Brewers batted around in two separate innings, the second inning and the eighth inning. In the second inning, they scored seven runs. The scoring started when Kolten Wong hit an RBI double. That was followed by a two-run home run by Luis Urias, his 9th of the season. Next, Keston Huira hit a solo home run to make it 4-0 Brewers. A few batters later, Rowdy Tellez hit his 16th home run of the season, a three run home run, to make it 7-0 Brewers.

It stayed that way until the fourth inning, when Rowdy Tellez hit two more runners home with a two-RBI double and the Brewers led 9-0.

Corbin Burnes took a no-hitter into the 6th inning. However, in the 6th inning, he lost it and gave up his only run of the night. The Brewers led 9-1 when he exited after six innings. Burnes finished with four walks and five strikeouts.

The Brewers offense erupted again in the 8th inning, this time scoring eight runs. They sent all nine batters to the plate without recording an out.

In the 8th inning, Milwaukee loaded the bases with nobody out and it was off to the races from there. Urias scored on a passed ball. Christian Yelich followed that up with an RBI on an infield single. The next batter, Willy Adames, hit a grand slam for his 16th home run of the season, which made the score 15-1. Mike Brosseau pinch hit for Kolten Wong and hit a two-RBI double to make it 17-1. The pitcher for the Pirates, Cam Vieaux, threw all 56 pitches in the inning for Pittsburgh.

The Pirates scored a run in the bottom of the eighth inning off of Trevor Kelley to cut the deficit to 17-2. The Brewers followed with two runs of their own in the ninth inning to make it a 19-2 Brewers lead. Victor Caratini hit his sixth home run of the season. 19-2 was the final score.

The Brewers will play the third game of the series on Saturday afternoon at 3:05pm in Pittsburgh.
