Brewers Earn Series Win With 10-3 Blowout Victory Over Toronto

The weather was perfect, the blue City Connect jerseys were glistening in the sun, and the Brewers offense was on fire on Sunday afternoon in Milwaukee’s 10-3 win over the Toronto Blue Jays at American Family Field.

With the win, the Brewers earned a 4-3 homestand and a series win over Toronto.

Chi Chi Gonzalez made his second start for the Brewers, and much like his first start, it started shaky. Gonzalez gave up a three-run home run to Alejandro Kirk in the top of the first inning and the Brewers found themselves down 3-0.

However, the Brewers offense picked up Gonzalez in the bottom of the first inning, just like they did Tuesday against the Cardinals. Rowdy Tellez got the Brewers on the board with a two-run home run and Omar Narvaez brought in Luis Urias on an RBI double. It was tied at three after the first inning.

In the second inning, Chi Chi Gonzalez settled in nicely and the Brewers offense blew the game open by scoring five runs. Christian Yelich, Jonathan Davis, and Willy Adames each brought in a run to give the Brewers a 6-3 lead. Rowdy Tellez hit a two run home run (his second home run of the game and 13th of the season) to extend the Milwaukee lead to 8-3.

The score would stay that way until the 6th inning when the Brewers loaded the bases with nobody out and tacked on two more runs. The Brewers led 10-3 after six innings. This was the seventh time this season that the Brewers scored ten runs in a game.

Chi Chi Gonzalez finished the day with four innings pitched, three earned runs, and three strikeouts. Jandel Gustave pitched two scoreless innings. Trevor Gott threw a scoreless seventh inning. Then, Brent Suter pitched a scoreless 8th inning and Trevor Kelly pitched a scoreless 9th inning to seal the victory.

The Brewers are off on Monday as they embark on a week-long road trip to Tampa Bay and Pittsburgh. They’ll play next on Tuesday night at 6:10pm against the Rays in Tampa.
