The Brewers had their four game winning streak snapped on Tuesday night with a 6-2 loss to the Cardinals.
The Cardinals offense was powered by Nolan Gorman, who hit two home runs and drove in four runs for St. Louis.
Both starting pitchers struggled in game two of the series. Chi Chi Gonzalez made his Brewers debut and went four innings, allowed three runs, and struck out just two batters. On the other side, Jack Flaherty pitched just three innings for St. Louis and gave up two runs, walked five batters, and struck out just one hitter.
However, the Cardinals bullpen shut down Milwaukee’s lineup the rest of the night. The St. Louis bullpen pitched six scoreless innings. The streak for the Brewers bullpen of over 30 innings without giving up an earned run was snapped in the 7th inning when Nolan Gorman hit his second home run of the game for St. Louis. That put St. Louis up 4-2.
In the eighth inning, the Cardinals tacked on two more runs. Nolan Arenado and Nolan Gorman both hit RBI singles to put the Cardinals up 6-2. That was the final score.
The third game of the four game series between the Brewers and Cardinals will be on Wednesday night at 7:10pm at American Family Field.
