The Brewers tough stretch has continued as the Crew finished their series in New York losing the rubber match 5-4.
Both starting pitchers, Tylor Megill for the Mets, and Aaron Ashby for the Brewers, left the game early with injuries leaving the bullpens to take on the bulk of the innings. Megill departed in the 4th after allowing four runs, giving the Brewers a 4-1 lead. Ashby would depart in the 5th inning shortly after allowing a game-tying two run homer to Mark Canha.
The score would remain 4-4 until the bottom of the 8th inning. After a Rowdy Tellez throwing error allowed J.D. Davis to reach third base, another ground ball would be hit to Tellez. His throw was better this time, but Willy Adames couldn't find the bag quickly enough to be able to turn a double play to end the inning, allowing the runner from third to score and the Mets to take a 5-4 lead.
The Brewers would fight in the 9th. Hunter Renfroe got things started with a single and then Tyrone Taylor doubled into the right field corner. Renfroe was waved home but the relay got there just in time to tag him out at the plate. Taylor advanced to third with two outs but Christian Yelich struck out against Mets closer Edwin Diaz and that ended the game.
Next up for Milwaukee is a trip to Cincinnati to take on the Reds. Eric Lauer will get the ball on Friday while Hunter Greene gets the start for the Reds.
