Eventful day turns draft into undercard

The Green Bay Packers selected cornerback Eric Stokes withy the 29th overall pick in Thursday night’s NFL Draft.

But hardly anyone noticed because the rest of the Packers house was on fire.

Earlier Thursday, reports surfaced that MVP quarterback Aaron Rodgers wanted out of Green Bay, fed up with a team that blindsided him by trading up a year ago for quarterback Jordan Love; a move signaling the end was near for arguably the greatest player to play football in a Packers uniform.

Rodgers has also reportedly been frustrated over the lack of progress on a contract extension, but his real discomfort seems to still be the lit ember from one year ago.

Late Thursday night during his Zoom media availability with reporters, General Manager Brian Gutekunst did not downplay the rift, but emphatically denied the team would trade Rodgers, their starting quarterback since 2008, following predecessor Brett Favre’s ugly divorce with the team.
